The Project
The work was a complete refurbishment of the Harvey Ward and comprised the following works:
- Strip out existing floor/ceilings/doors etc
- Adapt and alter partitions
- External drainage
- New floor finishes
- New suspended ceiling
- New fire doors throughout
- New hygipods
- Refurbishment of 7 shower rooms
- New fire alarm
- Adapt and alter existing services
- New radiator covers
- White roc walls
- New lighting and power
- Adapt medical gases
- New nurse station
- New air conditioning duct work
- Decorations
- Fire stopping throughout ward
All the works were carried out under the supervision of the Estates Department and in accordance with Building control and the hospital statutory requirements.

The Problems We Faced
Co-ordinating specialist trades to achieve a very tight
completion date where it had to be achieved to the strict hospital programme as the hospital had to start moving beds in the ward 12 June 2023.

How We Solved The Problems
This was achieved with weekly meetings with all relevant parties being present and where problems were highlighted and where necessary re-programmed.
Out of hours and weekend working was adopted to achieve the required completion date.
