The Project
The project comprised the entire refurbishment of existing teaching areas ,one of the larger and one smaller teacher suites, Works including:
- Full back to shell strip out
- Full M&E installation,
- Partition walling, anti-static vinyl flooring, hygienic cladding
- Automatic sliding door, movable folding acoustic walls to divide the larger area into three smaller teaching areas
- Decorating throughout
- Fire stopping works.
Alongside Kings AV we install new network hub on the 18th Floor to link the 20th floor classrooms and 18th Floor Sim-to-Care hub to each of the teaching stations on all floors.
We also work alongside SPS dental who provided and installed all the specialist Dental equipmentAV and SPS Dental were paid by Kings Direct.

The Problems We Faced
Covid was the initial issue but once we all got to grips with the bubbles we set up works progressed well and all teams managed to work through without a covid outbreak on site, we tested twice a week and all teams tested prior to starting back on site if they had a break between phases of works.

How We Solved The Problems
Insuring works could continue safely under Covid Guild-lines–We set up three teams of what we called bubbles and ensure even with clear test bubbles did not interact–we had covid testing twice a week prior to going to site and set up with Kings the facility to get vaccinated onsite at Guy’s Hospital for all team members [Some did not want the vaccination which was totally their choose]we did have some case of team members contracting covid, but as we had minimum 2 test a week on site and a third if you had been away even for a day this did not have a major impact on the bubbles and works on site progressed very well.

How We Solved The Problems
Co-ordinating with teams not under our control–as AV and SPS dental worked direct for Kings we needed them to work in our Bubble system, after various teams meetings to ensure enabling works had been fully designed we meet on site and run over working procedures they bought into these and could see how this not only ensure the safety of their teams but had benefited the works so far with very little to the works–this enabled us to a double stud wall for all the services to the workstations and use this as a pocket for the sliding doors so no service issues as all supplies could be fully accessed for maintenance.
