The Project
The project was to form a new CDU ward from an existing out of date ward area. The work required full demolition and strip out to form the new layout fir for purpose.
Full strip out of all M&E and installation of new. New electrical supplies and AHU were installed to meet current regulations. New data hub room serving not only the new project but 3 other areas of the hospital. New runs for medical gases to the new clinical areas formed. New wet rooms, WC’s, staff areas. New FF&E items supplied and fit throughout.

The Problems
- Asbestos found in under croft
- Immediate start with design developed during the works
- Data hub room had to be formed and migrations of live systems from existing had to be completed curing the works
- Underground drainage routes had to be investigated and found
- Concrete rib floor structure wouldn’t take fixings

How We Solved The Problems
- Worked with clients asbestos contractor to organise the clearance of all asbestos prior to works re commencing in the affected areas
- Worked closely with the design team and client to aid over coming design changes and the works progressed
- Formed the new data hub room ahead of programme to begin the migrations as early as possible – then allowing us to enter the existing data room to form new ensuite
- Worked with the design team closely to find acceptable solutions and then implement the works required
- Worked closely with the structural engineer to come up with an acceptable fixing method via fixing into the side of the concrete rib structure which would satisfy the required loads and work with the fire stopping detail required to meet the fire strategy.
